Bibhutibhusan Bandyopadhyay was born on 12th September 1894. His father's name was Mahananda Bandyopadhyay, and his mother's name was Mrinalini Devi. He got his early education at Bangaon High School. He did his intermediate and graduation from Ripon College, which is now known as Surendranath College of Kolkata. He became a teacher at Jangipara High School. Later he taught at Harinavi Anglo-Sanskrit Institution. His most famous novels are 'Pather Panchali', 'Aparajito', 'Aranyak', 'Icchamati', 'Chander Pahar' etc. This great man died on 1st November 1950.
