Describing a Vacation to a Friend Letter | WBBSE Class 9 English

I hope this letter finds you in splendid health and high spirits. I received your letter yesterday and was overjoyed to hear about your Puja holidays. Today, I am taking up my pen to share with you an exhilarating experience—my recent autumn vacation trip to Darjeeling, the majestic “Queen of the Hills.”

We arrived in Darjeeling via the iconic DHR Toy Train from New Jalpaiguri. As the vintage narrow-gauge steam engine chugged leisurely through misty tea plantations, looping through the Batasia Loop, the panoramic vistas left me spellbound. The highlight of our tour was an early morning excursion to Tiger Hill. We reached before dawn at 4:30 AM amidst biting cold. When the first crimson rays of the sun illuminated the snow-clad peaks of Mount Kanchenjunga, changing from fiery orange to dazzling gold, the ethereal spectacle took my breath away! We also explored the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, admiring snow leopards and red pandas, and strolled along the vibrant Mall Road enjoying steaming Darjeeling tea.

Throughout the excursion, I sorely missed your genial company. How wonderful it would have been if we could explore those emerald pine woods together! Please convey my deepest regards to your respected parents and affectionate love to your little sister. Write back soon sharing how you spent your vacation.
